want to create a symmetric snowflake, and edit all of it at once

Asked by moni

hi,
i want to create a snowflake. it will be a 6 or 8 axis snowflake, and i want to be see what the whole snowflake will look like, as i'm creating changes to one axis. i thought i could do it using duplicates, but i can't get it to work. i would like to create a basic boring snowflake, just the axes, and then add details to one axis, and have inkscape apply those changes to all of the other axes automatically.

thanks
moni

Hi Moni,

you should read in the tutorials and manual about tiled clones, those will - after some experimenting - allow you to do just what you want :)

https://inkscape.org/doc/tips/tutorial-tips.html
http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Tiles.html

And if you do a web search, you will also find tons of videos and tutorials which explain how to use those for specific purposes, like making clock faces, or patterns.

Regards,
 Maren
