copy and paste inserts a bitmap copy instead of a vector object

Asked by moni

i have a svg shape that i'm trying to copy from one inkscape document, to another. when in the second document, i want to edit by node. however, when i hit paste, i get a pixely copy. it's only happening in this one document. if i paste it into the same document as i copied it from, or into another document, it's okay.

kind of like this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/307005

except i'm running windows, so i can't find the settings that they are talking about changing.

thanks!

Hi Moni,

this is weird, indeed.

Which inkscape version do you use? (Please copy the full number from 'About')
Which windows version do you use? How do you try to copy the object? (Via Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X, or via the Copy command in the context menu? Do the ways to accomplish this make a difference?)

A workaround would be to just import the other svg file via the File -> Import dialog.

Regards,
 Maren
