dragging on mac

I am running Inkscape (0.48.5) on my mac (Mavericks) and when I click on an object it does not select it. I have to click and drag to create a selection region first. Then I have to hover and "wait" until the hand mouse icon appears.. It just seems a bit inconvenient. I remember than on Ubuntu you just click on the object, it is automatically selected and then you can drag it.

Please check the preferences of X11/XQuartz: do you have '[x] Click-through Inactive Windows' checked?

(the setting is in the 'Windows' tab of the X11 preferences pane)

Thank you. This option was not activated by default. Maybe you could include it in the installation instructions for Mac.
