Non-printing of background image

I am using version 0.48. I have inserted a bitmap file as a background in ythe bottom most layer and used the imbedded option. I the have drwn figures on successive layers above. When I print the file, the bitmap image does not print. The only way I have been able to print my file is to do a screen capture. Can anyone help me please?

Hi Andrew,

printing directly from inkscape can be buggy with 0.48, depending on a lot of things. Also the resolution of the embedded image may not be what you expect.

But there are workarounds for the printing issue:

Option 1: What happens if you export to pdf? Do you get the same result? (it is possible that you will)

Option 2: Export to png by choosing File -> Export to Bitmap. What do you get now?

Print the png from any other program, for example the gimp, which has very well working printer support, for pdf use your favourite pdf program.
