Inkscape is suddenly running slowly for me (on Windows)

Hi,

Today I've found that Inkscape responds very slowly (up to 15 seconds) or not at all to clicking buttons in the UI (e.g. aligning, selecting an object with a mouse, selecting the text editor button, etc.), but responds instantly to keyboard-based input (e.g. F8, up arrow, etc.) or the main menu (File, Edit, etc.).

It happens whether I use a large SVG file or an empty one.
I'm running a 256GB SSD which had only 24GB free when the problem started but have deleted files to make 80GB free.
I have 8GB of RAM and it still happens when Inkscape is the only program open.
I've shut down and restarted the PC several times.
It started happening on 0.48.4 (which I've run without problems for many months) but have upgraded to 0.48.5 and have the same problem.
I've given Inkscape a higher than normal priority in task manager without change.
No other program seems to be affected on my PC.

This may, of course, have nothing to do with the Inkscape program itself (I suspect it's a problem with my PC) but if anyone has any ideas on where to look (based on their knowledge of Inkscape's inner workings) I'd appreciate it.

Problem solved.

Another process (called Color Filter, which changes the color of my screen for my dyslexia) was somehow capturing commands that were intended for Inkscape, but not other programs. I'm not sure how or why, but uninstalling it has addressed the problem.
