increasing resolution of png files

Asked by C.Spengler

I'm trying to create graphics for a website and it requires the files to be .png .gif or .jpg. When I save the .svg files to .png they get pixelated. How can I increase the resolution?

You can set the size (in pixels) of the png in the export dialog. Just make one of the values larger. The aspect ratio will always be kept, regardless of the value you choose.
On your website, don't choose a value for image width and height which is bigger than your png image's width and height.

The only export command I see is to export to BMP, when I save as .png there is no dialog box offering resolution changes.

'Export to bitmap' does not export to the Windows BMP file format (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMP_file_format), but to png file format.
Bitmap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitmap_graphics) is just a general name for raster images (in contrast to vector images).

Trying to save as png from the 'Save as...' dialog is not a good idea (although it works, which comes a bit as a surprise to me).
Please use the export dialog for exporting png format.

Oh, that was confusing me. Thanks that seems to work.
