Missing drawing handles

I am using bezier to draw lines and curves. It's working fine except there are no longer any handles showing on nodes. I can still adjust shapes by pulling lines by cursor, but need the handles back again. How is this done?

I'm using ver 0.48, and don't recall changing any sesttings.

In the top right, there is a button with the context menu 'Show bezier handles' (or similar, I've got the German version) when you are using the node tool. Activate that button to get your handles back after you deleted the preferences file.
