I'm unable to export to PDF with PDF/X-1a specification

Asked by Stéphane BUGNON

Hi,

As you can read in the summary, i'm unable to export a draw to a PDF file with PDF/X1-a specification.

As the printer I work with use this specification, I absolutely need it.

I'm running Inkscape v0.48.5-1.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

I heard that the latest scribus version supports pdf-X, haven't tried it yet.
You could import your vector graphic into scribus (latest version!) and then export as pdf-X. Be aware that you will need color profiles and a well prepared vector graphic for this, I *think* pdf-X does not support partial transparency.

... and scribus also has problems with blur.

Thantks for your reply.

I run the Redmond software and the latest available version of scribus is 1.4.4 (exept svn). The version 1.5 is needed to get this feature.

Actually, I use Photoshop and Illustrator for professional work and I wish switch to open source softwares. To be frank, I need really stable and simple solutions and I don't really want to use this kind of hack. I prefer switch the software one by one.

I saw here : http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Roadmap_revised that the choice of PDF spec. is to be implemented. It seems it has not been yet...unfortunately.

Is there anyone have some information about the developpement of Inkscape and tell me if that feature is or not yet implemented ? and if not when will it be ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
i know this is not a solution, but you could try for now to convert yours svg file to pdf, in the command line "inkscape -f FILENAME.svg -A FILENAME.pdf".

Not implemented.

AFAIU this isn't solely Inkscape's own deficiency - it also depends on
supported features in the graphics library (cairo) used by Inkscape for
PDF (and PS/EPS) export.

Unknown.

@IvoGuerreiro : You're totally right : this is not a solution. In addition, using command line in M$ software is heretic.

@~suv : thanks for your reply.

So I will go on with my old good Illustrator and M$ piece of sh**

Can you help with this problem?
