Need to replace a color please

Asked by JF Hanson

I need to replace some dark grays and black on my image with a single gold color. The only instructions I can find say only:

Replace color
Replace a color among selected objects or all objects if no object is selected. Colors are specified in RRGGBB hexadecimal form. Color to be replaced must match exactly.

Please tell me HOW to do this. Thank you!

I'm not sure where that text comes from, but I think it probably refers to the Replace Color extension. As far as I know, it will only work on vector images.

If you want to replace colors in a raster image (such as JPG, GIF, PNG, etc.), you'll need to use a raster editor, such as The GIMP.

If this is a vector drawing, open Extensions menu > Color > Replace Color. In the Replace Color field, type or paste in the hexcode for the color that you want to get rid of. In the By Color field, type or paste the hexcode of the new color.

In case you don't know what the hexcode is, select 1 of the objects which is filled with the color. Then open Object menu > Fill and Stroke > Fill tab. The hexcode is in the RGBA field.

Can you help with this problem?
