combined rectangles print filled

Asked by PAUL JENNINGS

Using Inkscape 0.48.4 r

I am trying to produce borders by combining to concentric rectangles and filing them. On the screen The "combine" command produces the desired effect of a narrow border in the fill colour. However when I print I seem to get variable results between different pairs of rectangles

some print OK
some - the outer rectangle seems to print completely filled
If I overlap the rectangle paths nothing prints within the boundary of the two objects

This issue is beyond my skills, and I don't even have a printer connected to the computer where I run Inkscape. So I can't test. But I searched existing bug reports, and found this.

#1081647 https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1081647

I didn't read it, but the title seems to match your problem.

The link seemed to suggest issue was solved in version 4.9. I searched for this but all I could find was Version 0.91pre0. I installed this. When I run it it displays lots of error messages about missing fonts but then the application opens and does indeed seem to resolve the issue. It exports OK and Prints OK

when I downloaded version 0.91pre0 I noticed there were lots of other files to download but no instructions as to which, if any, I should also download. I may be a little out of my depth here.

Any way I shall carry on using the new version

Thanks
