Can you use special characters such as found in wingdings?

Asked by Jim Schaefer

Would like to use inkscape to edit astrological charts - need to use symbols such as found in astro, hamburg, or wingdings fonts.

Can do?

Yup Most/all of them exist in utf-8, so the simplest manner is to use an utf-8 font that has the symbols you want, and enter them as text :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrological_symbols#Unicode_encodings

and see "unicode" section of http://inkscape.org/doc/tips/tutorial-tips.html

(other solution is to use the svg files you can find on said wikipedia page or other (wikicommons?) sources in your file. All svg files are easily usable)
