split monogram font

Asked by Judith Woodworth

I have watched "applelover53" on you tube splitting a monogram font letter "H" using "Regal" font. After drawing a black rectangle across the middle of the letter, she chooses "path" to "division" and small boxes appear around the letter and rectangle.. then she can proceed to "group" and move the top portion of letter. I choose Path to Division and nothing happens. She is using a Mac computer and I am on windows. What am I doing wrong? Please descibe steps to splitting this font.

I'm not sure what you mean by ""path" to "division"". And of course, I have no way of knowing what video you're watching.

But some tips that might help.

-- The rectangle needs to be on top of the letter. Make it a different color than the letter, to make it easier to see if it's on the top.
-- Next, make sure you select both the letter and the rectangle.
-- Then do Path menu > Division.

Can you help with this problem?
