Multi page document

Asked by Ashley Smith

I have created several single pages and need to convert them into a multi page document.

How do I do this? Ideally I want to save them as a PDF.

Thanks

Ashley

This isn't a task for Inkscape as it does not have multipage support at the moment.
The way I do this with a lot of pages is by creating single-page svg files and writing a script that converts them to pdf files and then merges them. It's not as tricky as it might sounds but also not very convincing for a large number of pages.
Exporting is done with Inkscape. If you're familiar with the command line there is an easy way to skip the dialog windows by executing "insckape --export-pdf=out.pdf file.svg". You can also export them in Inkscape by choosing pdf in the "Save As..." dialog.
Joining multiple pdfs is definitely no job for Inkscape (as for now). I would suggest looking for a pdf merger. Pdftk is a nice tool that also works well on all major operating systems, both as interface and command line.

Please check if you need to convert your files before joining them. Of course there is no need to convert pdf files before joining them.

Good luck, I hope you're able to achieve your goal.

More informations on this topic can be found here:
http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Multipage
of by searching "inkscape multipage pdf export"
but there propably won't be any one-button solution.

Thanks so much for your quick and helpful reply.

I've just finished the last page and will try to create a multipage document this morning.

All the best

There is a multiple page support extension: http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape-pages/

I'm not sure how it stacks up re SVG standards. But it might help?
