Most keyboard shortcuts have no effect.

Most keyboard shortcuts (e.g.: Ctrl+z, Ctrl+G) do not have any effect at all. This is a big problem, since it makes drawing much more time-consuming. I have just start using Inkscape, so please give simple instructions about how to fix the problem (if possible, provide me with a set of step-by-step instructions). Thank you in advance.

Hi,
What is your operating system, and more generally in which respect your system can be specific comparing to others ? (it has always worked for me and everyone i know on any computer)
Do Keyboard shortcuts work on other softwares ? (e.g. gimp, libreoffice ?)

Hi, my OS is windows 7. The shortcuts work in other appliacations. But, for the moment, the shortcuts begun to work and in Inkscape as well. When I posted the question, I had just installed the software and was doing the tautorials to learn how to use it. After I switch off my laptop and later switched it on again, in order to continue the tautorials, the shortcuts started working! All of them (or, at least those I had learn about). Maybe, after installation, I had to restart Windows so that the program just installed works corretly.
