Measure Path returns stange units and values

Hello,

I wanted to measure the length of path. The result should be something with 6mm noch 65m, shown in screenshot.
Is it a bug? Or is that regular.

Note: In ubuntu-ppa-version this function at all does return an error message.

When I tried it several times on a default new inkscape projekt:

It seems that below a certain measure Measure Path returns stange units and values.

Question: How can I acchieve reliabably measuring some distances?

Try with a smaller font: the text label is clipped to the length of the measured path (thus leading and trailing parts of the text appear to be missing).
