why does my printer not print out all of my work?

Asked by lucy stokes

I am new to inkscape so this might be a obvious question!
I have downloaded a vector floral image & have opened it as a pdf on to the inkscape screen. I have then added text but when it prints, it cuts some of the text off, (both vertical sides). The size I want to print onto is 146 x 146 mm.
Can you help?

Lucy

Hi,

Have you set your document properties right ? (File > Document properties). It should reflect your printers pâge size. Then you should select all your drawing + text (CTRL A), maybe group all for ease (CTRL G) and choose the "selection" tool (1st icon with a black mouse pointer). Just below the menu bar, the "selection" submenu bar will appear, showing you the total height and width of your selection. You should then resize your group to the size you want,146x146 mm (first, you may want to click the lock icon in the same submenu to allow the resizing to be proportionnal). BTW, if your group is already a square, in the same submenu bar, choose "mm" as the unit of choice and type in 146 in both the W and H boxes.
