Can't find a bug report I sent in

Asked by Kat

Hello, I'm totally new at this site as well as Inkscape. Several hours ago, I sent in a bug report here on this website for Inkscape but I can't find my post. I'm not entirely sure how the posts are supposed to "come up" on this website, (ie: bug reports only show up on the website after an admin reads it etc), but could you kindly let me know how I can go about finding my post? I wrote quite a detailed report so I hope it's there somewhere.

By the way, my bug report was about how an .AI file using the latest version of Adobe Illustrator Creative Cloud freezes Inkscape and puts it in "not responding" mode for Windows 8, x64 bit computer. I read on the net that Inkscape can open up AI files, but I can't do this, so I posted a detailed description of errors I've been getting.

Thanks for your time and help.

I don't know if you ever got your answer. But Inkscape 0.48.4 is tottally broken opening ai files because Adobe saves insecure files that could totally be used to harm your machine. The security bug was fixed, but that disabled ai files in that version. A solution was put together for the next version of inkscape but that's not been back-ported to the older 0.48 version yet.

Dear Martin,
Hello, thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. Actually, you are the first and the only person to have replied to my question as well as to the bug problem that I posted over at the "Bugs" section for Inkscape. Last I checked, my bug post was still not up on the website here at Launchpad.

Would you happen to know approximately when the next stable version of Inkscape with the ability to import .AI files may become available for the general public?

Thanks again for your time and help. I really appreciate your assistance.

Kat,

Good to hear from you so soon. The next version is available to the public, it's just not a stable release. You're on windows so checkout http://inkscape.org/en/download/ and look at the 'development version' section so you can get your work done sooner.

We've been pushing really hard to get another release out. As you know we're all volunteers here and so it's a matter of mustering support. That means we have no firm date, but have just entered a cooling period and a bug hunt so we can start closing some of the bugs so things are moving in the right direction.

Any support you can offer would be helpful in pushing things forward. Checking bugs, cheerleading, donating, anything at all can help.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Kat for more information if necessary.
