Tapered Text

Asked by Austin Kelly

Hi guys , sorry to ask a dumb question but looking to taper some text but not make it 3d.

Ie the text increases in height along a fixed lines . example the text VOLUME would increase along the letters in height like an increase in volume would in audio , if that makes sense.

I.m sure its very simple but I'm new to inkscape and CAD so apologies in advance.

Fingers crossed for some help

Cheers

Austin

Hi,

You can either choose to do so using a live Path Effect (http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Paths-LivePathEffects-EnvelopeDeformation.html)

or using Extension > Modify Path > Enveloppe
To do so, you have to
- type your text
- convert it to a path (Object > Convert to path)
- draw an outline of your shape (for your "volume" exemple, draw the triangle with the 90° angle on the lower right)
- convert it to path too
- select both the text and triangle and apply the enveloppe extension
- (if you don't see the result, it may be because it's behind the triangle).

The most flexible solution is nevertheless the live Path Effect IMHO.
