Where is the align option on the menu?

Asked by Donna

I am going through the tutorial and while it is great that you allow total keyboard use for the program.....Many people don't use the keyboard at all. Like me. Your tutorial says ctrl-shift-a for align, but where is align on the menu that I can click with the mouse? Like I said, I find the KB awkward and hard to use - I am a one handed mouse clicker for EVERYTHING :) I am bummed that I have to spend so much time searching all the little icons and menus trying to find the clickable version of what you are trying to teach me. AND I CANNOT FIND ALIGN ANYWHERE!

Do you have a MAP or picture of the icons and menu's complete with titles? Help a KB challenged girl out. And no - please don't tell me use the KB. Stop and think of the people with disabilities that can't use the KB but can use a mouse.......

Thank you - but what about a map of the icons? Any help there?

I do not think there exists such a map (or i have never seen it)... inkscape menus are very coherently organized, there are few dialogs which are signalled with "..." in the menus, and most/all icons have a mouseover help text... but you can do it and it may end up in inkscape wiki ^^

(Also, i strongly advise using keyboard for -at least- ctrl+[azgcvd] (select all, cancel, group, copy, paste, duplicate) that you can do with one hand.
Plus, there are many things that you will not be able to do at all without a keyboard : a lot of mouse operations are more powerful or work differently when you press control, shift, and/or alt, and this is i think the same for many drawing softwares.

Sigh. I can use the keyboard, but I am an old time gamer-gal who likes to lean back and mouse around (LOL) Using a KB means sitting up straight and looking at it (never did learn to type by touch either .......). I never could learn to use the w-z-whatever keys for movement. It is arrow keys or mouse.

Does this mean I am basically lazy???? lmao
