divided form into 2 forms - color spilling across both

Asked by andrea k

I divided a small section off from a larger shape. There are no connecting lines. However, when I try to fill just one of the forms, the color spills across both. How can the shapes be separated for color?

I dont know what you did (division should have created 2 paths), but your symptoms look like your 2 shapes are combined in one path. You can separate them with ctrl+shift+k (menu : Path -> uncombine (or whatever it is called in english version))

There are actually several small shapes cut from the large shape. ctrl+shift+k helped for some but not all. Fill goes into some of the cut off shapes. ?

Can you upload your file and/or describe better what you have/want ?
