Unable to save png or pdf file

Asked by Dianne Gains

Hello

I have been using inkscape for a while now and this is the first time I've not been able to save, I've tried to save some work I've done this morning on to my computer as a png file after no luck with this I tried saving as a pdf file.

What happens is - it does save to my computer but then when you click to view it on my desktop - All I can see is a blank page……

Can you please let me know what I need to do to rectify this without loosing everything I've worked on this morning :)

Many Thanks
Dianne

Hi,

Most probably, your drawing/work it outside the page boundaries so when you export, the resulting pdf/png (which is set to be the page by default) will not be exported.

You can either move and scale your drawing to fit it into the page, or delect all your drawing and in File> Document properties, choose "Fit Page to Selection", then export.

Regards

@Edouard - see linked bug report: the problem was with a custom document background color (solid black) which is not used when saving as PDF or 'Cairo PNG'.

Can you help with this problem?
