save a personalized work-space in inkscape

Asked by Matt Stevens

I recently downloaded and installed inkscape 0.48 onto my PC, and I love it. It's a fantastic vector image creator. I just wanted to ask if it is possible to save a personalized work-space. Every time I open inkscape I always have to open the layers, the align and distribute objects, and the fill and stroke dialog boxes then minimize them so they sit along the right hand panel, to create the work-space I like to work with. Is there a way of changing the default setting so I don't have to do this every time I open inkscape ? I've tried to find an answer to this question from forums on the internet, and it seems that it may not be possible. Can you confirm ? Thank you for your time.

The last comment in the forum topic linked below describes how the workaround mentioned in the answer to question 238033 can be applied on Windows:
