I need to convert zipped files with an SVG so that I can use it for my silhouette cameo software

I have downloaded zipped and compressed files to my documents on my hard drive. Within the zipped files are multiple versions of the same file e.g. jpg, SVG, etc. I need the SVG file to use in my Silhouette Cameo software. I was told that by downloading inkscape, I could put the files (not sure how) in inkscape and then in silhouette software (also not sure how) and then I could use them. Please help!
