Thumbnail not updating

Asked by Rafael Guglielmetti

Hi,
    I have an svg file created by Inkscape here: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/be/Coxeter_groups.svg

As you can see (for example here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Coxeter_groups.svg), the preview is not correct. I tried to save the file again but it changes nothing.

What can I do?

Thanks.

Hi !

Well, the SVG renders correctly, so it has something to do with the way wikimedia converts it to PNG. You should have a look at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:SVG, and more specifically at the Fonts / text subsection. It basically tells that only a selection of fonts is accepted by their converter.

Hi Edward,
   The problem is the following: when I display the svg with Image Viewer on Ubuntu, I got the same thumbnail as in Wikipedia... So I think the problem is really with the .svg

Steps:
* I created the .svg
* The thumbnail is incorrect
* I uploaded the file on Wikipedia

Best,

Rafael

Hi again,

well, I've opened it with the Image Viewer in Ubuntu 13.04 and it's perfect, with text. Rendered it with Chromium/Ubuntu, Firefox/Ubuntu, chromium/Win7 and even Internet Explorer/Win7... No problem !

In the meantime, the wikimedia preview has changed and is now perfect, so maybe it was a cache issue... Anyway, the problem seems solved !

Regards !

Hi Edoudard,
   Here is what I did:
* I removed elements in the .svg file
* After each removing, I checked the file with https://toolserver.org/~jarry/svgcheck/stable/
* At some point it worked
* I re-added my elements

After that, I uploaded again the file on wikicommons. So, there is still a bug somewehere in Inkscape ;-)
 If you need it, I have the broken file, juste let me know.

Thanks for your help.

Best,

Rafael
