cdr_input.inx in extensions, but no CDR file gets loaded

Asked by Gert Maizonave

I have took the risk of installing the beta version 0.46 in order to use one of my old CDR files. Although the right extension seems to be there, there is no option in Inkscape for inport or open this kind of file... :-(
How do i open the CDR file with Inkscape 0.46 beta?

Thanks!

I believe you will need to install the Corel Draw program called uniconv.
I have not actually done this myself, but this program is listed as one of the dependencies in the cdr_input.inx file.

Another way to get around this is to output the CDR file to a PDF. Open Inkscape and then open the PDF. A Conversion box will appear asking how to import the text as text or curves. If the font you have in the CDR is on your system, use the Text option, otherwise use Curves. Click OK and the PDF file should open up in Inkscape allowing you to edit it.
