removing radius on rectangles

Asked by bobdobbs

When I create a rectangle, it has a radius on the corners. I want to remove the radius.

Inkscape shows me a bar that seems to show tool controls. There are two fields that are noteworthy: Rx and Ry. They are both set at zero. Raising the values increases the radius. But lowering them back to zero does not remove the radius.

I have found documentation for roundnig handles here:

http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Shapes-Rectangles.html

However, the rounding handles on my rectangle refuse to move.

The documentation also says that if I select the 'sharpen corners' icon, then the radius will be removed. However, this icon is greyed out.

Does your rectangle use a stroke? Possibly the stroke is set to use
rounded joins.

To change the join style:
1) select the rectangle,
2) open 'Object > Fill and Stroke',
3) switch to the 'Stroke Style' tab and
4) change the 'Join' style to 'Cusp'.
