How to cut lines in middle of in vector graphics

Asked by Charles Crain

I need to know if there is a tool that allows a line segment in a vector graphic to be cut in segments without removing the whole line (Ctrl X). I'm trying to remove unwanted lines from an imported PDF file. However, not all the lines need to be cut completely - only portions. In Adobe illustrator, it would be the Scissor tool.

Hi,

You can do this by drawing a "cutting line" and then using Path > Cut Path to cut your line with this. Have a looh at http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL_v14/html/Paths-Combining.html, at the Cut Path section.
