white text transparant background

Asked by Martin Broerse

I am creating a white text on a transparent background. The needed export to .png works OK but I can't see what I am doing in inkscape. What is the best way to change the transparent canvas/background to black or grey so I can see what I am doing?

Hello Martin,

You can set a canvas background with the File>Document Properties (Shift+Ctrl+D), Page tab.

Note that with 0.48 the background is exported when exporting to PNG, and thus you'll have to set it to transparent again before exporting.
0.49 (not released yet) will allow you to set a background without exporting it.

Regards.
