Hi vicki
Welcome to Inkscape.
Unfortunately the question is not clear to me. Can you provide a link to a sample file (of which I suppose) you want to export to bitmap?

Hello Kris!

Thank you for contacting me!

The only way I can explain it better is:

I open the inkscape program, then I add my own text , lets say "welcome" and then I go to click PATH on the tool bar and then TRACE BITMAP....normally then you could choose OK/OR UPDATE...then you would see the bitmap image and the original I created.

But it will do nothing at this point and I can not create a bitmap of an orginal image i creat.

BUT, if I import a jpeg image from online for example an outline of a motorcycle then it will make the bitmap image and I can proceed.

Basically, any original image or words I create in inkscape it will not allow me to make a bitmap so I can save as an svg.

Please let me know if I explained it better this time....i wasnt sure anyone would respond! So I am excited to get this fixed!

I really enjoyed creating my own sayings with inkscape and then able to save them as bitmaps/svgs so I could cut them with my cutter.

Thank you for your time and all your help!

Vicki

I think you misunderstood what "Trace Bitmap" does.
This command converts a bitmap (raster) image into a vectorized version (i. e. svg) of the image.
If you want to save your text as a png file, just use File -> export PNG image.

Can you help with this problem?
