how to select and move text?

I have uploaded a one page pdf document and the selector has automatically divided it into 3 parts. I want to select only one paragraph in the second part and move it a little up. I am unable to do it. Could you plese help.

Hi,

Not very clear what you're doing and want to do. I guess everything is moving at once ? That's because an imported PDF file is grouped in inkscape, you should ungroup it prior to working on it (CTRL + U).
