How to get /change dimensions of object in Inkscape

Asked by John Culleton

In inkscape, assuming inches as default measure, how does one get the exact dimensions of an object? Scribus describes that info under "properties"

Hi,

With your object selected, look at the toolbar, with x, y, width and height. Select Inches (in) in the selector next to the textboxes.

I'm trying to use inksacpe for cnc projects, there are a few issues with the accurate dimensioning of objects, whenever I try to scale as item lets say 200 mm x 165 mm where accuracy it's basic to generate the proper gcode it will show a dimensions as 200.096 x 165.100 I work generally in metrics and as you can see there its an additional decimal not neded, how can i get the same dimensions I digit in???
thanks for your advice and friendship to the Ubuntu users group
