Page zero point relocation

I wish to be able to move the zero (datum) point to any position on the page so the rulers can be used to measure relative components of individual graphics and figures.

Hi,

I might be wrong but I think it is not possible as Inkscape is an SVG editor and the SVG defines the position of the zeros as is. You can nevertheless cheat by drawing outside of the defined page. You should then mask the page boundaries in the preferences.

I suspected that might be the case; which is unfortunate, and who knows it might become a feature in future.
There are always ways of getting around problems like this; it's just a bit more time consuming.
