to crop a part of a scanned image what tool to use

when scanning..often your image needs to be croped befor vectorizing ..having trouble with location of croping tool..
what and where is this tool? Thankyou your software is delightfully designed..

Use GIMP for this very purpose before importing your image.

For just a simple crop, you can use the GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/)
