Creating transparency around or in imported JPEG

Asked by Rachelle Honeyman

I have a small JPEG that I would like to integrate into a logo.

The JPEG is cropped as closely to the outline picture as possible, but obviously remains in the square default shape and it's white background overlaps the vector image.

I either need to:
a) create a custom cropping of the JPEG;
b) figure out how to make the background or at least the corners transparent.

The logo outline is round and the picture is square, so the corners, even when layered correctly still peep through the round outline.

I have tried to inset the path of the jpeg into the logo outline with no luck.

Thanks for any feedback!

You could clip the bitmap image (JPEG) with a circle/ellipse or rounded path drawn on top of it (or with any path/shape which matches the desired region) - the clipped image will only be rendered visibly inside the area of the clip-path, the rest will be transparent (aka clipped away):
