Find the angle of an object

Asked by Robert Patoine

With the gear rendering I want to find out different measurement and angle of the gear and have them displayed like in mechanical drawing or a 2D drawing. I need to calculate external radii circumference module etc, etc, and finally print them to scale and zoomed to read the drawing.

I am new to INKSCAPE. I foud this software in an article

http://makeprojects.com/Project/Make+Your+Own+Gears/188/1#.USNgg6Va5om

I was able to finally infall INKSPACE under Mountain Lion. Not an easy job.....

I am not a designer. I have read some help documents, buy the Kindle Inkscape: a guide...

Search by angle, measurement, did not find the answer. Could you refer me to some documentation related to that.

Thanks!

Great program indeed.

Inkscape is likely n ot the optimal tool for your needs (it's neither a free CAD application, nor an application optimized or well suited for computer-aided geometric design (CAGD)).

Technical drawing aids are a long-standing known feature request, but haven't been the main focus of development so far (though things like e.g. snapping get enhanced continuously).

Inkscape does not offer tools suited for the task described:
- calculate external radii circumference module etc
- print them to scale

For existing options to measure lengths, distances and angles, please see e.g.

fine,

thanks a lot. Still your software is great. Just with the gear that I create, it exactly reproduce the original gear.

Warm regards from Québec, Canada.
