Bezier Crashing

Asked by Noah Elbahtimy

Whenever I use the bezier curve tool, after making roughly 2 or 3 shapes, the shape becomes a random mess of figures in black no matter what color I set it to. I cannot make proper shapes unless I restart inkscape and try again. Do I need to re-install or is there just a problem with Inkscape running on a Windows 7 Laptop?

Check the options on the pen tool controls bar right above the canvas:
do you happen to use the 'Spiro splines' mode, or a shape other than 'None'?

For more details about using the pen tool and its options, please see

Yeah, it was set to from clipboard. I noticed this problem was only happening after I copied and pasted a shape, I checked up top, and set it back to none. Thank you for your help!!
