my "make a bitmap copy" does not seem to work, although it was on Windows XP and now I am on Windows 7

Asked by Chuck Holland

My wife has a Cricut and we have a program that reads SVG files and cuts them. I have done most of the work in this realm on her behalf. I imported a jpeg and tried to "make a bitmap copy". I am sure this is the function I used before when it was a simple line drawing (a coloring page from the internet). When I "make a bitmap copy", it just makes a copy that is in NO WAY an SVG file. It is (by every indication) a jpeg copy.
I COULD trace a bitmap, but I had such good success with the "make a bitmap copy" function that I really favored it.
So here's the deal... I cannot remember the last time I did this kind of stuff, probably at least 2 years or so. Am I remembering wrong? Would you mind downloading a coloring page (winnie the pooh or something like that) and see if the "make a bitmap copy" is functioning or am I just screwed up or do I need to re-download the program because of a bug?

I am pretty sure that your cutter needs paths, and the only way to automatically get paths out of bitmap is tracing.

Maybe your cutter is able to do tracing all by itself when you pass your JPG image. But since it is unlikely, then I think you used tracing before. Maybe your images are more complex now?

Can you help with this problem?
