How do I duplicate the 8x11 page of shapes that I have to make it 2 pages across so it fits across my entire 24 inch cutter.

Asked by Armand Phillippi

I have formatted a 8 1/2 x 11 page of stars and want to duplicate the whole page so it now fills in for a 24 inch cutter. In other words how do I duplicate a single sheet and make it 2 pages wide so I don't waste material cutting out just half of my 24 inch cutter capacity. Sorry I know this is probably cutter 101 but I am just starting and need to be able to do this function. Thanks for any help in advance.

You can change page size in File > Documents Settings dialog to what you want. Then you can select all objects (Ctrl+A), duplicate them (Ctrl+D) and use Shuft+ arrow keys to shift the duplicated items (Inkscape will automatically select them instead).

What I would really recommend is that unless you are really sure about what you are doing, it would be better to use native cutter software. Typically it has both duplication of objects and a command to place all objects on the vinyl sheet so that as little of material is wasted as possible. It least that's what GCC's software does.

Can you help with this problem?
