How do I outine individual letters?

I'm trying to like layer words and what I mean by that is that i want to write the school and then it be outlined so that i can cut it on my cutter in two different colors and i want it outline in a different color

Simply select the letters in a text object and use Fill and Stroke dialog to set stroke settings for this selection.
