Why are you trying to import an Excel document into Inkscape for? Are you trying to get an image out of your Excel file? Please tell us what you hope to achieve by importing an XLS file into Inkscape so we can better answer your question.

If you want to show data table then print or export to PDF file first and import that PDF into Inkscape.
