reveal colour on layer 2

Asked by Andrew Richards

Probably the simplest of answers! I am trying to make a web banner. I have duplicated the first layer changed the colour and I want to chop off a bit of the top layer, at a jaunty angle, to reveal the layer and colour under neath. I have tried gradient and path and tried adjusting the RGB etc but I can't get it to work. I appreciate this is an operator so any help would be great.

There are probably a few ways to do this - group the whole of the upper layer. Create a shape then that is the shape of the whole layer (a rectangle) but with the parts that you want to be see-through removed; apply this shape over the top of the layer-group as a clipping path (Object > Clip > Set). You can reverse it by using release, you can edit it too (using shift+D I think to get the clipping path and then using path tools IIRC).

Can you help with this problem?
