How do i import a caption into a chart?

I have a nice graphic i have in a .svg file. I want to add a caption below the chart. Do i need to import a separate text file so that i can shrink it down and size it accordingly? Is there a "insert caption" option somewhere? I dont see where in your online manual i can search for "caption" or "insert caption".

For Inkscape that would be just a text, so use text tool (F8).
