Additional Software Needed?

IS THERE ANY SOFTWARE OR ADD-ONS THAT I MIGHT NEED IN ADDITION TO INKSCAPE 0.48, TO ENSURE THAT IT OPERATES TO IT'S FULL POTENTIAL ON MY COMPUTER? MY COMPUTER IS A 2008 DELL INSPIRON 545 WITH WINDOWS VISTA, WITH A: INTEL/CORE-2 QUAD 2.33GHz PROCESSOR/ AND HAS 8-GIGS OF RAM/IT IS A 64 bit OPERATING SYSTEM. ALSO ARE THERE, OR WILL THERE BE ANY TYPE OF UPDATES AVAILABLE IN THE FUTURE? THANKALOT FOR ANY INFO

1) Inkscape for Windows includes the required software needed for basic usage.

Exceptions:
- Opening PostScript files:
If you need to import PS/EPS files, you will have to install Ghostscript [1], and adjust the system PATH so that Inkscape can find and use it.
Note: saving a copy as PS/EPS on the other hand uses internal routines (does not require GhostScript or other external software
- LaTeX support:
If you need advanced features like working with LaTeX formulas (using 'Extensions > Render > LaTeX formula' or the external extension 'TeXText'), you will need to have a working LaTeX installation (and some additional tools like pstoedit) installed.

To update to a newer version, you will have to download and run the new installer.
