Working on a Mac and trying to select an object below another object.

Asked by Lon Larsen

I am trying to select an object under another object. I keep holding down the option key and clicking, but I don't go down to the second object. Is there another button I am suppose to use on a Mac?
Thanks

No, but with X11/Xquartz on Macs, the 'option/alt' key by default sends a different signal to Inkscape (Mode_switch to create special characters). Please read this section in the Inkscape FAQ for details:
<http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/FAQ#How_can_I_make_the_Alt_key_work_.3F>

-> with a fairly recent version of X11/XQuartz, you can simply toggle a setting in the X11 preferences pane to make the 'Alt' key work like the "real" Alt keys under X11.

When I checked the option keys Send Alt_L Alt_R check box, that fixed that problem.
Thanks
