PDF export fails to print letter E

Using 'save-as' to export PDF produces all the letter 'E's in the drawing to be produced as completed boxes.

I can't get a clean export of my document in PDF. Have tried exporting in PDF 1.4 and 1.5; converting text to paths and creating a LaTex file but nothing has changed. All the 'E''s are corrupted.

Can you convert your texts into paths before exporting? (Path → Object to path)
