Problems with viewing exported .png

Asked by Serg

I view my .svg file in the Inkspace - it looks Ok.

I export it to .png and then view this .png with Irfanview. Now it has half of the image with almost black background.

Please give me your e-mail so I could send you the .svg and .png for you to compare.

Looking forward to your prompt reply!

Thank you very much indeed!

It's almost certainly due to transparency in the image.

You're exporting the SVG without a background and the background set in Irfanview is black. Any semi-transparent areas will show as dark because of the black colour coming through.

Either set the background transparency in the page settings of Inkscape (Ctrl+Shift+D) to make the background a different colour (eg opaque white as opposed to the default transparent white) or you could place a white shape behind your whole page (which is what I do to add background colours).

Alternatively you can set Irfanview to use an alternate background colour on transparent images.
