Can I crop an image automatically, so as to delete what's out of the page borders?

Asked by Raúl Santos López

I have been wondering whether this can be done... If I am just interested in a particular area of an image, and I want to get a derived image from it which fits in a page with a size that I have set: is it possible in Inkscape to discard the parts that exceed the borders? That is, automatically cutting the image, which should have a rectangular shape as a result ...

Hello,

You can use the clip feature: draw the shape of the clip path, then select your image and the clip path and use Object>Clip>Set to hide what's outside the shape.

More details on clipping in the Inkscape manual (<http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Clip.html>).

Regards.
