No extension found to save document

Asked by henry333

Windows7, Explorer9...When saving I get: "No Inkscape extension found to save document. This may be caused by an unknown filename extension." When asking for the program, Inkscape was not on the list. I added it from the Program Files, but that did no good. There are no Inkscape logos on my saved files; they are blank. I've been using this program with XP for years and have never had this problem after installing. I'm new to Windows7 and Explorer 9. Is Explorer 9 the problem?

Probably you try to save your Inkscape documents into a path where one of the parent folders has a dot (aka period) '.' in its name.

This is a known bug in Inkscape on Windows:
Bug #408566 “Program won't save files without given extension on Win32”
