I have to make drawings for patent in black and white

I need to make drawings for a patent in black and white. Having a problem with it not filling my rectangle. And when i draw one where exactly do I click so it will stay on page? It keeps disappearing or stays in dotted lines.

To get to the small particulars do I just zoom in even down to pixels if need be? As anyone can tell this is new for me and everything I read seems to be so technical. Thanks, AzSunGal
