Snapping to closest

Asked by Artis Rozentāls

Is there a way to snap to the closest snapping point without dragging which can move more then necessary when snapping to a line instead of a corner or intersection?

No - AFAIK there is no way to trigger snapping expect by moving the object or node.

If I need such precise snapping to a path to occur, I usually resort to using auxiliary objects and/or guides to construct the nearest 'snapping target' on a path, and then use dragging to snap e.g. to an auxiliary path intersection or guideline anchor/intersection.
